Also known as raw puer, this tea consists of leaves and buds that are sun-dried and pressed into cakes or nuggets soon after they’ve been harvested. Sheng puer is also sold in loose form, but this practice is generally avoided, since it complicates storage and transportation and, more importantly, exposes tea leaves to air, dissipating their taste and fragrance.
