Scented
Sometimes teas are scented with herbs, roots, blossoms, dried fruit, and even chocolate or caramel. In the west, scenting techniques have been traditionally used to enhance the taste and flavor of the base tea. Unfortunately, this innocuous practice has lead to wide usage of artificial additives – a common phenomenon among the overwhelming majority of bagged teas sold in supermarkets.
In China, scenting is not very popular because the country has a wealth of teas that taste great without any flavorings. Chinese do scent teas for health reasons, by adding herbs, roots, and blossoms that imbue the base tea with certain medicinal properties. We only offer scented teas that follow this traditional, health-oriented approach to tea flavoring.
